I also am having trouble with my 93 f150 E4OD tranny. But mine is different than other posts i've read on this topic.
When the vehicle is cold,(at start up ) when I put it in drive it does not engage untill I rev the engine several times. When it is warmed up it will go right in. It also seems to shift too soon into the higher gears. Has anyone you know had this problem ? Do you have any idea what's causing this ? I know this tranny is electronically controled, and I'm hoping I can change out some sensor or something, as that is a much cheaper repair than a new tranny. Thanks for any info .

yo!
Try this first; a Self Test by BroncoJoe19

do the KOEO = Key On Engine Off portion first

& Remember to have engine @ Normal Operating Temperature before doing the KEY ON ENGINE RUNNING (KOER) portion

That will help w a bad sensor or wiring, etc. repair

yw!
Post any Codes found here.
Or look up some such as the TPS here; in my SITE @ http://www.broncolin...x.php?index=118
Possible causes may be the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
FAILURE SYMPTOMS
Hesitation, tip in surge, engine pinging,
no torque converter lockup.
"Check Engine" light on.
or:
Manual Lever Position/Transmission Range (MLP/TR) Sensor
As of 1994, the Neutral Safety Switch or Neutral Drive Switch (NDS) is referred to as a Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLPS) or Transmission Range (TR) Sensor.
; "E4OD Nagging Neutral Nonsense & Pinpoint Test, Manual Manual Lever Position (MLPS) also called Transmission Range (TR) Sensor. Some of the problems the MLPS can cause are wrong gear starts, TCC hunting, no 4th gear, engine stalling, high or erratic line pressure & a sudden neutral condition; The negative lead of the multimeter should be placed at the MLPS signal-return ground terminal at the MLPS...This sensor is responsible for more malfunctions than any other sensor in the sys- tem, and the kicker is that it seldom stores a code 67 or 634."
