^_^
Hello,
I've got a 79 Bronco with a very built 400 and C6, and a very slight overheating problem. My radiator is new, but just a factory 3 core. I need to upgrade to a 4 core. I've found quite a few, even a few cheaper ones on ebay, but I'm getting broke so I really need to find a used one. If anyone has a servicable 4 core that'll work on a 79 Bronc, and your willing to sell, please contact me.
Thanks!

Unless you are living in the desert a 3 row should be plenty for cooling a 400, you might want to do a coolant flush and cleaning of your cooling system.

Did FORD still make a truck after 79?

:D
Hello,
I actually live in the midwest (Missouri), but I've done every thing else I can think of. It's a new motor with less than 200 miles on it. It's got a new water pump, new radiator with shroud (3core), I've got a new carb on it (professionally calibrated, so it's not running lean, which'll make it overheat), the timing is set right so there's no pre/post detonation and I'm running a 185deg thermostat. The heater core is new and not leaking, and the anti-freeze/water is a 50/50 mix. I built the motor to exacting specs and it dyno'd at 430HP at the rear wheels. Everyone else I've talked to says that much HP really should have a 4 core, but I'm open to suggestions....
Thanks
GB

Check your local junk yards to see if they have a rad out of a automatic F250 w/air,and towing package its the bigest rad offered by ford,I don't have all my stuff here in Ga yet or I would give ya the dimensions. If ya call a local Rad shop tey might be able to help you out on the dimensions
If ya don't get hung up once in a while your not wheelin hard enough

Some other things you may want to look at first. Is your fan installed the proper way? Sounds stupid, but I've seen it done. Is it the proper fan? Is the water pump the right one and is it rotating the proper way? Some serpantine belt water pumps turn the opposite way then a multi-belt driven water pump. If you can afford it, put on a "hi-flow" water pump to move more water through the engine. Also, you might try a flex fan, as these are made to move more air at low speeds then at higher speeds. If don't have one already, install a coolant recover tank. This will save coolant that is other wise lost. You may want to drop your thermostat to 160 degrees and see what happens. I run a 160 in the summer and 185 in the winter.

You might want to try the additive that requires no antifreeze. I cannot remember the name of it but it says that you will run 20 degrees cooler. Antifreeze holds heat so if you do not have any antifreeze in youre radiator you will reduce engine temp.
