I USE MW 79 150 FOR WORK AND PLAY, AND I THINK IT IS ONE OF THE BEST TRUCKS EVER MADE. BUT IT WILL NOT KEEP UP WITH OTHE CARS ON THE
HIGH-WAY WITH OUT RUNNING HIGH RPMS. WHAT CAN I DO SO THAT IT WILL GO A LITTLE FASTER BUT STILL PULL A LOAD WHEN I NEED IT TO.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

I had a problem with this also, I have a 75 250, I put 373 gears in the rear and it helped out allot, but your still not going to be able to keep up with the new trucks without getting some sort of five speed tranny, and fuel injection, but the taller gears made me feel allot better, you have to remember these old beaters were made for pulling, so the whole geometry of the vehicle is made to pull, from the power bands in the motor, to the gearing in the tranny, to the tire size, your fighting allot of engineering to keep up with the new play trucks, sorry

You can make these older trucks go just as fast as any other thing out on the market. Some of the options arent cheap, but definitely possible. You can look for a late model overdrive transmission, like a E40OD out of a 96F250 with a 460. Or if you want to spend some money, you can look at a gear vendors over/underdrive unit for your truck. They're great, they work like a gear multiplier. You'll get much better acceleration and alot taller gear in your final drive.
