I have a 75 that I did the swap, I took it to a junk yard and they put a newer style power steering box on and replaced the bendix steering link( the one with all the hoses) and replaced it with the drag link from a 78, 79. The only problem with doing this is that you have to find a steering box that will wrap around the frame, with the pitman arm under the frame, and the gear part of the box sitting on top of the frame, plus you have to box the frame where the box goes. There are two reasons that I don't advise this way, it limits how wide a tire you can put on the truck (35x14.5 would rub on the drag link on sharp left turns) and when you 4x really hard core and bottom out, the leif spring hits the nut on the bottom of the power steering shaft. I'm not sure how you could do it, but I'd love to see one of these old trucks with the drag link in front of the axle, like the 80's 1tons. you might want to check to see if you could put the front steering link from one of the newer trucks on it, with the box. it might be a little more, but steering would be allot more reliable. hope this helps a little bit, just remember if you do something like this, try to make it look stock, paint everything, good welds, Its sappose to be illigle to do any kind of steering mods, and might make it tough to get inspected, although I've never had any problems with mine

no problem, let me know what you end up doing with your power steering, I love these old trucks, and love to hear what mods are made to them
