i put my truck on a scanner to run some test to see why it was running ruff. the scanner said it was the EGR valve and the throttle position sensor. my question is if the EGR valve is bad would it make the throttle positioning sensor act like it`s bad too? or should i put both on new? i`m going to put a new EGR valve on it but was wondering if i should put the throttle positioning sensor on it too.

check it out this way. with truck running press in on egr diaphram (truck should stumble) if not egr valve or passage is plugged.if truck runs shitty at idle egr valve is not sealing. dont bye one untill you try cleanning it first(carb clean, small brush, lots of black on your hands). dont no the setting spec. on your tbs.but you can do a shade tree check with dig.multi tester 2 of the wire we checked on ohm setting will give you a a progresive reading. slowly move it through its travel reading should change smoothly in both directions. I hate to bye parts . hope this helps. from the mountain. hillbilly P.S. check tbs with the truck off and tbs unplugged(your checking the switch at this point not your harness)
