help me out not running rite

i got a 79 with a 400 in it...4bbl carb, headers, and intake. When i go to pull out somwhere it spits and sputters then goes fine. It also does it sometimes when im driving down the road

carb most likely just needs adjustment

Probably the dash pot diaphram is cracked or the linkage to it needs to be adjusted. What carb is it?

its an edelbrock model 1406 thats all i know about it really... im new it all of this

I'm more familiar with Holley than Edelbroc, but here is a link that explains what I was telling you. Once there click on the hesitation item, just above off idle surging. Basiclly they do the same thing that Holley does but the arrangement is just a little different.

They have a pretty good tech support and you can contact them to get more information on correcting the problem.
