I have a 95 F-150 XLT with a 5.8 that starts and runs real rough for a bit then something kicks in and the engine smooths out and all is well. I replaced the EGR valve but still same problem. With vacume line off the EGR valve, truck starts and runs fine except for the check engine light. I guess because the line is off. Any help!!

Have you checked your codes. Some of them don't turn on the Check Engine light.
