In '71, the 351C 4V had an advertised 330@5800rpm and the 460 had 365@4600rpm

From what i have read and heard from people who have raced the 351c 4v.You can make good top end horse power with the 4V heads. But he 351c is like the 351Mand 400.They suffer from cooling and oiling problems.I swapped my 351M out in place of a 460.There are a lot more aftermarket parts for the 460.You can make 400hp and 500pds of torque at the flywheel out of a 460 with just a cam, intake and a 4bbl carb. With everything else stock and do it under 6000 rpms. I am getting around or a little over 400hp out of mine.
1977 F-150 460 makeing around 400hp ( My Pride and Joy)Told the X wife she would go
C-6 with shift kit before the truck would
L&L headers with single chamber flowmasters and turn downs and L&L ladder bars
4in ruff country lift with a 2in body kift.
35x12.50-15 mud tires on 15x10 chrome and black modular rims
cd player,2 amps,2 600watt Sony 10s
4.10 gears with a locker in the rear
Future plans is to level it up .Hate the ass end sitting higher that the front.AND scrap the crappy C-6 for a manual.

1985 Bronco 427 small block
Small cam for the moment, all aluminam top end
max cool radator, headers and 2 1/2 exhast with flowmaster and echo tips
C-6 with a 208 transfer
33x12.50-15 all terrain tires
8000 warn winch and brush guard
Needs a 5 speed and a solid front axle liek it should have came!!!!!!!!

1995 Ford F-150 Extended cab 4x4
Stock 5.8 with E40D tranny
Push button 4x4
True dual exhaust with NO cat under it.
32x12.50x15 Maxxis mudders
220,000 miles and still runs like new.
Just needs a 5 speed in it and a solid front axle like it should have came!!!!

I would have to agree, in a very general sense with that last reply. I have a 460 cobra jet and it has avoided issues I have had with the 351 in the past. One thing I like about the 460, since it is run off the 385 block there are tons of options out there and if you are looking for power it is possible and of you are looking for mileage/dependability it has that too, it just depends on what angle you are looking to take it.

The 460 will give you much more torque .I had a built 351 4 barrel Cleveland in a 68 Ranger and it had plenty of top end but low end was weak! Bobby
