I have an 79 Ford F-150 that had a 300 six cylinder in it. I am putting a 351W in it's place. The two biggest problems I am having are with the header/exhaust manifolds and the clutch equalizer mount that goes onto the bellhousing. I cannot find the mount anywhere in local junkyards. I am told that the mount is the same from 1973 to 1983 F-Series trucks, two or four wheel drive, as long as it is a 302 or 351W motor with a standard shift. The other problem is what headers I should use that will not give me major clearance problems. Any help would be appreciated.
I've done several swaps and always use regular clutch eq hardware from just about any F100/ 150 with a v-8 anything from a 302 to a 351m. You may have to lenghthen the rod to suit. Hedman makes great headers as do blackjack and hooker but Hedman works with no clearence issues and the price is right
