im guessing it is a vacuum leak or soem gunk in the carb is why it wont run right and dies when you put it in gear. use some carb cleaner to clean it up inside and out. and also use it while its running to find any vacuum leaks. spray it on the hoses and see if the engine revs up when you spray it on the vacuum hoses.hey guys i'm havin a little trouble with my truck. when i bought the truck it had been sitting for close to a year. I went out and put a little gas in the carb and it fired right up. i had some trouble getting it to idle but have done some adjusting on the carb and now it will. the problem is as soon as i put it in gear it dies, i'm stuck. if anyone knows anything about this, your help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Carb problems are a pain sometimes. Try what the others say and then look to rebuild the carb. It could be your power valve not giving you the extra shot of gas that the engine needs and it stalls. But since it has been sitting I would think you have gummed up gas some where in the carb. So like others have said clean carb with cleaner. remember to use compressed air to keep it all clean too.
