Brief details:
Engine: 351W, .030over, Edelbrock performer RPM package including heads, cam, and intake, Carter 625cfm AFB, Malory unilite distributor, MSD 6a ignition, headers, true dual exhaust.
Rebuilt C6 trans with shift kit, 4.11 gears (9� rear--Detroit locker), 33s mounted on 15X10 rims, 2.5 inch suspension lift.
All repairs /modifications / maintenance were done by me including the engine rebuild and paint job. With all the work and effort I put into this Bronco I still consider myself a novice �shade-tree� mechanic.
To my deep disappointment and sadness my pride and joy Bronco was involved in a head-on collision when a panel van attempting to avoid a deer veered into my path causing a collision. No one was injured (not even the deer). Upon first inspection I thought my Bronco would be an easy fix. However, the passenger side frame rail was pushed back about 3 inches breaking all body mounts on the right side. The trans and engine were jolted out of alignment due to the frame movement. The right fender was pushed back through the right door, and the right door was pushed into the rear quarter panel. The force of the accident and the movement of the frame rail also severely bent the rear bumper and buckled the gas tank skid plate. I could not over come the difficulties of correcting a bent frame and my pockets were just not deep enough to pay someone to straighten it for me. I decided my 82 Bronco was a total loss; I stripped all the parts that I wanted and hauled the twisted frame/chassis to the recycle yard.
I have recently purchased a 1984 Bronco to replace my 82. The 84 is a real rust bucket and I�m currently collecting parts to replace the doors, front fenders, and core support (everything rusted beyond repair). The frame of the 84 appears straight and rust free. I am rebuilding the engine out of the wrecked 82 and will perform a transplant this summer.
