How hard is it to change out a 300 6 to a 351 do the motor mounts just bolt to the frame?
It depends on how you look at it? I hope your not doing it for fuel mileage because the 351 is be just as good if not worse than the 6cyl. In my opinion the swap was good for me because i'm running 35's. First off if your going to do the swap find a good salavage yard with lots of parts.... your gonna need them. next here is a rough list of what your gonna need-- MOTOR! all the assecories for the motor, fram mounts, radiator and hoses(recommend new), exhaust from the motor to atleast behind the cat if you plan to make it leagal for certain states(i'm not leagal) the tranny should bolt up if your runnin a manual but you will need a new clutch and flywheel if the donor motor isn't from a manual tranny truck, computer and harness and since this is a 93 i believe the motor harness and the one for everything on the fenders is integrated together so makes the job a little harder. you will have to use a torch or ginder to take the old frame mounts off the crossmember cause they are rivited on. i'd just use grade 8 bolts to put the 351 mounts on. other than that no huge suprises just besure you research your motor out and if it was me i'd tune the motor up while it's outta the truck(plugs, wires, cap, bug, and oilchange) when you look at your donor motor check the harness under the intake to make sure the salvage yard mice haven't been chewing on it. i think that's the main issues. any one else?
