Just popped the cover on my front Dana 44 HD and i have no teeth on my ring and pinion. Cant trust anybody anymore. so i get to choose from a new ring a pinion set, and pretty much rebuild my whole front axle, or switch over to an open knuckle 44 with a high pinion. so i guess my question is can i simply buy a high pinion dana 44 open knuckle and use my original front drive shaft (epuiped with a divorsed 205) or do i have to get the driveshaft from the high pinion and Married tranny and tcase?? If im gonna replace the front end, i kinda want to upgrade it, thus, the high pinion, disc brakes, and a tighter turning radius.

  • Interests:I love restoring trucks, old or newer. The oldest I have put back on all four is 1965, the newest basket case is 1993. I have restored more 73 thru 79 than any others. My favorite year is 1979. at one time I had as many as 28 trucks, I have lots less now. If interested I do have access to lots of parts still, 4x4 and otherwise but not too many Sno-fighter Dana-60 Front-ends though. Those were the chosen few from 78-and 79 one-tons and 250's.

Why not just put a dana 60 under it and change out the steering and up-date everything,it looks like a nice truck and one someone would probably keep.......Wrenchhand from Arkansas 479-674-6162
