i have a 2wd ford f100 1970 390 witha c6 transmission ive been thinking about changing it to a 4wd i was wondering if any of you guys had done this before i would have to buy all the pieces and would like a couple of places to look at for these parts. this truck has been in my family since 1971 and i would like to keep it and pass down through the generations

tex- ive thought about doing the same thing to my '78 2wd (its been in family since 1980). after thinking about it i decided to keep it original as pass it down one day. if i was going to do it i would look for a donor 4wd truck and combine the two.

just buy a 4wd drivw frame from the same years 67-72 and do a body swap. there is no way to do a 2wd to 4wd change without major modifications to the frame of the 2wd. the 2wd drive enigne crossover would have to be completely removed in order to fit the front axle under a 2wd. and that is only the first thing that would have to be done.

The cross member is the worst . U need all components anyway . Just use 4x4 frame . As it would be quicker in long run .

u can clear the cross member but would have to lift truck around 3-4 "
Parts is parts
