I would like to know what the difference between the early and late model 460. I'm putting a 460 in a 76 Hi Boy and I want to put a late model 5 speed OD behind it and would like to know if the model makes any difference for this application. Thanks for your help.

the block itself is the same all the way through for the 429 and 460 385 series.

so yes the late model od transmission will bolt right up to the 460 you have.
