well i was wondering if the 1980 up to 1996 short bed bolt pattern and truck bed braces are the same as the 1979.
basically i can get a good bed from later years. if i cut out the floor pan and weld up to the original sides
i might have a real good bed floor. the only other option i was thinking is order the full floor 8 ft floor pan
from LMC and cut it shorter to fit in to the 6 foot bed (short bed) i curently have.

Thanks

look on craigslist, and ebay and your local junk yards. you should be able to find a 73-79 bed.

hey 400m-the first 79 Ford truck I owned had the bed from an 86 F-150 on it. It was a short wheel base also. So, you CAN put one on it. My truck was painted after the bed was replaced and it looked pretty good. I did notice that the two rear bolts had some tack welding around the bolt heads inside the bed-not sure if that was just to hold them down or if the previous owner had drilled the holes and had to tack them to keep them from turning.

Good luck on search . I have parts dealers here in PA that ship bed in from out west. I'd never find one locally other wise.

The newer beds do fit with small mods . If your a good welder making the newer floor fit bad could be done . I know insides looked same for years

In store they Bike Store
were giving out the incorrect rebate form ($10 off, not $25 like Macy's website said). Bike Trial Seller
Macy's website was not
working to print out the $25 rebate form yesterday, and no one with the 1-800 customer service line will help.
Does Bike Shop
ANYONE have the $25 Pandigital rebate form from Macys that they can send me? It was for this past weekend's salesBike Trials

You can make a later bed fit,but the body lines won't match up. They are different. I would try(if your fab skills are good)like you said, take the later bed and put your bed sides on it to get a good floor. A later stepside(flairside) will bolt up also with afew mods, and there is no body line to worry about. Good luck and hope this helps.

what kind of mods are we talking about? will the bed bolt on with no welding of brackets to mount it or what? who cares abotu bed lines. that isnt something that cant be made to look right anyway with the difference in the body styles.
