is it safe to run a lincon locker on the streets i need a locker for my truck but dont really have 400-500$ right know. so would it be safe to just weld my shafts together for a good old lincon locker.

Not really . I used them off road and the ""PUSH" from locked wanting to go straight can be scary.

Not to mention tight turning on blacktop (parking lot ) Tires will hating it .

Find a ls rear for now . I off roaded for years with out a locker .

IS THIS THE STOCK 8.8 AND WHAT SIZE TIRES,I WELDED MINE AND IT LASTED ABOUT 1000 MILES AND BROKE AXLE SHAFT WITH 35S
