i have a 1983 f 150 4.9 liter 6 cyl. 4 spd. 4x4 . it has some low rpm power loss issues and I wanted to plug into the computer with a scanner.
Anyone know if my truck has the obd1 capability eec IV, or eec III . and where would the plugin be located. checked the driver kick panel, it's not behind it.

thanks.

1980-1983 could have DS-II, DS-III/EEC-III or DS-II/MCU

Some were located under the seat while others were behind the gauges in the dash. You maybe able to see it easier if you just remove the dash pad from top.

ok, will look in those locations for it.
but, what would be the procedure to get it to shoot codes, since i have the older computer. my scanner is for eec IV and V.

thanks again
