I was wondering what this metal can is and what its function is? it is in the middle of the picture mounted to the passenger side fender there is one black and one red wire coming from right side

its called a vacuum canister. it stores up vacuum for systems that require it. in canada they usually rust out and affects the idle, they can either be replaced by plastic versions from jeeps, or plug the end of the two little hoses.
