i have a 79 f250 or so i think. im not sure exactly what year the motor is but i know it is a 460 and had a 79 np203 transfer case in it. im looking to find out what kind of transmission is in it. the door code is k which means c6 but im guessing that door code wasnt from the original motor.its a 3 speed auto and c6 is the only 3 speed i could find for those years but just didnt know if 460's had any different variations. what im lookin to do is bolt up a np205 to it and just curious to know if it will be a simple bolt up or if theres more to it than im thinking. any advise or knowledge at all about the drivetrain in these motors or years will be appreciated. just startin to get my feed wet with the truck and willing to learn anything and everything there is to know.

Any ford 205 will bolt right up to your c6. All early fords with the married assembly have the same round 6 bolt pattern. How ever, I've heard some c6's have 2 different tail shaft lengths 5" and 7". But that shouldn't matter since you already have the c6 and output housing. If you plan on getting the 205 from a doner truck with any trany it would be a good idea to take measurments of your drive shafts, or take the ones off the doner truck because they will probably be ifferent lenghts. I would also take all the transfercase linkages and shifter. Hope that helps and good luck. Oh,if thats a "camper special" you might have a dana 60 front axle. The snow fighter and high gvw packages came with them, very desirable. I have a 78 "camper special" Im building up that has the dana 60 front, took me quite a while to find it.
