Brother's 1994 F-150 Centurion style ext-cab shortbed with the 351/5.8L heavy duty package believes his EEC has shorted. Was leaving work and started his truck. forgot something in the office. Turned off, wnet in and came back out. Truck would only crank with no sign of firing. Smelled a very faint odor of burnt wiring in the cab. Looked all around inside under dash no signs of anything. Got no spark from coil wire with light tester and timing light. Long story short, changed both the coil and stator/PIP in distributor with no results.

Fast forward...Started focusing on the ECU/PCM/EEC whichever it is, and when removing the connector from the puter to try the unplugged spark test and get the number off of it, he noticed a stronger burnt smell coming from the computer plug when he removed it and it pretty much convinced him that was where the earlier burnt odor came from and the fact it must be the culprit.

The unit's number is F2TF-12B523-AD.

Fist of all, does anybody have one or know of a resource to find one? Secondly is there anything special to removing it from the driver's side firewall where it appears to be mounted? Would a 5.8L Bronco with same tranny use the same computer? If he finds one of the same number, does it still have to be re-flashed? or no it's plug and play if it's good?

First time on this site. Found it searching google. Any help, advice or stories of experience would be appreciated.

If you know the name of the malfunctioning part you're looking for I'm not certain why you can't find it at the auto parts stores or at your local ford dealer.

Otherwise, I wish I knew more and could help, but I don't.
