Ok, first off I would like to thank anybody that is willing to take time to respond with any help. Here is what I have:

1978 Ford F150 custom 300ci L6
I just purchased the truck to work on with my son knowing it had issues. I only paid $700 for a very strong running rusty truck.

We bought the truck knowing it has some issues with the lights, all around.
I redone all grounds I found and gained head lights, parking lights, blinkers and interior lights.

I cannot find a fix for the brake lights, I have 12v on the switch at the brake pedal, and 12v in the socket at the tail light when brake is pressed. BUT the 12v is on the 2 lower contacts.... Any ideas??

I also have no blinkers when the parking lights are on......

If I am forgetting or you all need to know anything else please ask! We need help! Cannot drive without brake lights :(.

We are looking forward to restoring the truck but I need to get this fixed before we commit to further restoration.

Thank you,
John

Does it have trailer wiring? if so, try to eliminate it as a problem.

A common issue in these old trucks is wiring getting worn out inside the column. the only fix would be to get a new turn signal assembly with new wires on it, and feed those through the column.
a couple weeks ago I blew out my tail lights (one shattered, both were blue, white and black from heat and smoke), at the same time, both my signals stopped working too. I replaced the stop/tail lights, and the flashers, and all is good again, though my horn started to work for the first time since I have owned this thing.... My brother's 79 hasn't had turn signals and brake lights in years, he's too lazy to go into the column to fix it, so he uses hand signals
