I recently found a 83 Bronco that has been setting for about two years, it has 136,000 miles on it, a 300 cid in-line, and a OD manual tranny. The body has some light rust but otherwise looks clean. The owner wants $1,500 but after calculating the rebuild cost I'd like to offer less. Any opinions?

Hi, I actaully just purchased an 83 bronco last week. I bought it for $650. That is with a 2 yr old inline 6 engine, and a 4 speed manual tranny, and 4wd. Yet it may be so low b/c there is no back seat, and it has major rust through the body. The tailgate is rusted out too. So if those numbers help at all i dont know... but you should be able to get it for less then 1500. I may have just been sold out by someone trying to trick me and it will die in a couple days... haha . Good luck though!

Definitely offer less, like start at $500. If it has been sitting for 2 years, the seller may be very anxious to get rid of it. You get tired of moving things every time you mow the lawn, the neighbors complain about a junk vehicle, the guy may have paid $200 for it last week. Things like that.
Make sure it has a title, if you pay over $500. You can get up to $400 from the metal scrap yard for an old car/truck if it has a title, should you decide not to spend the time and money to fix it up. You can always part it out, too, if you have the patience.
