It wont be easy but it can be done. You'll have to find frame mounts for the 302/351w and you'll need another tranny. Your best and easiest swap will be the 460. swap mounts are every where to do this and your tranny will bolt right up to the 460. www.broncograveyard.com and www.LandLproducts.com are a few places to find convertion kits.

now I know it's a 4spd tranny. yes a 302/351W bellhousing will mate to your tranny. Now you'll be left hunting 302/351w frame mounts for a 4x4. Since no 4x4's came from the factory with the 302/351w you'll have to search for a small block swap kit or build your own. hope you built that 351w up over stock. cause it'll fell like a gutless dog in a heavy 78/79 bronco.

Yes the 80+ bronco's and trucks came with 351w. But the frame perches and crossmember's are diffirent. So they wont work on the 78/79 bronco's unless you fad your own mounts.

I did not know that, thanks for the info. What about headers, do you think that 80+ 4x4 headers will fit.

that I'm not sure of. It seems they would since 99% of the headers you find for 80+ broncos and trucks are shorty headers. The set i bought for my 86 F150 looked alot like a tube set of manifolds. They where a bolt in swap on my 96 so no pipe work needed. I never did put them on my truck. So i gave them to my nefhew to replace a cracked manifold on his 77 F150 they bolted up without a problem but had to have some ex. pipe work done. So i believe they will if you go with the shorty headers. but there easily modified to fit.

Thanks for all the info txquadhunter. I have just recently bought a 78 bronco that has a 400 in it now, I am just going to just rebuild it and scrap the 351w idea for now. thanks again for the help.

This should work perfect...

Find used or buy new mounts from a 74-77 ford van...It should fit nice...
