My 1990 automatic says 5.8L EFI. Is there a difference between Winsor or 351? I guess I need to learn more about the engines. Thanks

hey blury,
Your 5.8l is a member of the "windsor" engine family.
Ford has four (I believe) different 351 engines.
Windsor
Cleveland
modified (an offshoot of the "c" family)
and the "BOSS" a Windsor/ Cleveland hybrid.

hmmm are you sure they made a 351 boss? i know there was a 302 boss i just didnt think they ever made the 351 a boss. they had a whole show on spike tv about how the boss came around and how it was only out for two years before it was replaced by the 351. but if your bronc has a 1990 motor than it is the winsor. which in my opnion and most ford enthusiasts is the best 351.

Ford did make a 351 boss. they did not make it for very long. If you can find one concider youreself very lucky. I think it was made in the early 70's for ford muscle cars.

351 BOSS...Yep. 1 year only, '70 Mustang only. It was the same as the 302 BOSS. A windsor short block with Cleavland 4v heads, and custom intake.

Another rare 351 engine was the Austrailian. It was a 4v Cleavland with closed chamber heads, and smaller intake ports for better low RPM's.
