:unsure: The 302 and 351 starters sure looked the same. The 351 seems to start ok. Do you think I should change them back. It seems that the problem was a shot battery because the 302 won't start even with a jump, the same problem with the 351 before I switched the starters. The battery, the bad one, comes to full charge in about 2 minutes after failing to start either vehicle.

no they are not interchangeable. the teeth count on the flywheel are different. the 351 has more teeth so the spacing on the starter teeth are different. it will work for a little bit but eventually the starter will eat the flywheel or vise versa depending which metal is harder which is usually the starter. anyway i wouldnt interchange the starters if i were you.
