i have a 78 with 33 inch tires i want to put 35 on it but it doesnt stop wort a crap right now any suggestions on a good up grade thats not going to kill my funding

Ask for the police issue brakes. The stop well but eat the rotors.

Do you have power brakes? If not thats a huge improvment. If you do, are you're brakes working properly or will it just not stop?

if i was you and i was gonna buy tires anyway........go to the bone yrd and get the daul piston set up off a 3/4 ton truck(ball joints out)and a 3/4 ton rear
bigger brakes,stronger axles,pretty much a bolt in
the cons i'm sure you'll hear about,comes down to what you think is saf

sorry i forgot to mention it but late 80's lincolns had rear disc 9"or maybe it was late 70's who cares go walk around the bone yard and get the mounts and crap probably the cheapest route to go.
