 I have a 1990 F159. Steering wheel won't lock into position. Sometimes creates a dead short in electrical system that immediately drains battery. Ignition switch is bad and actuator rod is bent.

Seems easiest to swap the entire steering column. Need to find out what others will interchange. Don't care if tilt or no tilt.

Please advise. Thanks.

I BELIEVE any column, up to '96, will fit. But since I can't recall for sure, you might want to spend a little time in the junkyard, comparing solumns from as early as you can find ('80) to as late as '96. What I would look for, if you decide to do this, is to compare the lower dash on each truck - Bronco, and all the F-series, they're all the same. Three things I would look for - how it mounts to the loewr dash, how it mounts to the firewall, and how the steering shaft connects to the steering gearbox(and if you think there could be any interchangability between the donor column, and yours - if you needed to get that involved)

Besides, pulling a part yourself might save you a few bucks
