For me, Big Nasty is my first Bronco.
It sat in my bro-in-laws driveway for over a year with him half heartedly trying to sell it.
Well, one fine day in May, mine and the wifes only car (85 buick riviera) decided it didn't want to live any longer and committed sepaku in the driveway as it was being backed out :)
The passenger side ball joint & lower A arm got in an argument ending in a nasty divorce, with their only child, the cv shaft, being ripped violently form its' now broken home, the transmission.
Anyways, I had been talking to the bro-in-law for a few months about buying the Bronco from him and the day that the car met the asphalt for the second time... went ahead and got serious on it and picked it up after getting it running again and new tires to replace the worst two, the rears.
Since then.. I want to get another bronco for the wife.. but she is insisting on something small. (maybe I can use it as a tire chock when she isn't looking :D )

Before then, I had always admired big broncos and other big trucks, but never had the opportunity to get or even think of getting one.

I ws a kid when I got in my first bronco. My uncle ran a junkyard back where I grew up. I won't forget the day the roll-over came in... After some quick roof mods for driver and passanger comfort (thank you sawzall) I was driving it round the lot picking up parts for customers.. Wasn't before long I got cocky and started running it up on cars and showing off. The reason I chose the bronco was because we had a blazer, old scout, and a couple jeeps come in through the years.. would be used for parts runners.. but they always broke and ended up parked with their families. The bronco other than some oil, tires, and simple tune up is still working to this day with no problems... Sometimes I go back home (when the misses lets me go play).. I'll go to the old lot and jump in er.. That was 13 years ago when it came in.. it was a 79 with a 3 inch lift and some mis matched junkyard tires tires. :-"

Well, I needed a 4x4 to get to some of the places my job takes me. My son-in-law baught SEABRONC while he was going to West Point. After graduating, he needed a truck in better condition to take him and my daughter to Alaska and only had a month to sell the Bronco. So since I was considering a 4x4 anyway and he needed to quickly get rid of his, I decided to buy it. He got a new F150 4x4 and I got the Bronco. I drove it for a year and liked it so much I decided to restore it. From there on the love affair just grew ><img src=<' /> . My wife calls the Bronco my girl friend  . He missed his Bronc so much he baught a 69 while in Alaska. When I'm completely done restoring this one, I'm giving it back to him. Of course, he won't get this one until I rebuild another one  .

I've slways been a big fan of the 4x4 SUV's like Broncos and Blazers, and have had more than a few of each over the years. The 84 belonged to a friend of mine and we're also in a band together. I've had my eye on the 84 since he bought it new, and either rode with him or drove it on many trips. While he took great care of the Bronco, the motor just died one day and I offered to buy it. He now drives a 2wdDodge Durango, and he can't believe the change in his once-stock Bronco. He never even had the top off in 20 years. I don't think I'll ever put it back on!!!

The 88 I picked up for a couple hundred bucks from a buddy of mine that has a wrecker service. It's always helpful to have a few contacts in the salvage/wrecking business when you restore old vehicles.

1988 Bronco Custom, 302 EFI, C-6 AT, Ford 8.8". parting out

I got into my BII due to the gas prices. I had owned a couple of scouts and liked the size, but it was too hard to find parts most of the time. The last vehicle befors my BII was a 88 Suburban(likes gas a lot!!), A buddy had a friend who needed to sell his BII (didn't know how to work on them), about $600.00 with parts and I was a proud owner of a 89 BII. I got to say I think i'm hooked!

I got into rigs at 15 with my first 78 K5 with 6" lift on 36's that was fun until I went wheeling with my buddy and his 85 bronco on 35's. After testing his out I was sold on the Ford Bronco. Soon later I rolled the Blazer (late for school) did a ground up restoration, new body, paint, top, rims and 93 interior and sold her for $8000. B) So I got myself an 89 Bronco and did everything possible to it. It was too nice for the trails so I picked up a 68 Bronco for off roading! Thats when the Bronco maddness really came into effect. Now 8 years later, its getting more bad ass as the years go by...

it started out when i was a kid helping a friend rebuild a 75 f150. i was driving a monster 72 chevy kingcab 4door extra long bed. put the chevy against a tree(5 ft diameter oak won) and but the f150. he bought a 78 bronco. we put them up against each other and on the trails the bronco was so much better. sold everthing when i joined the navy, went oversees, then bought a car when i came back. lost the car in a hurricane and bought a 93 xlt. i fell in love with the bronco instantly. the best is to drive around and still be able to see over everything. but still have the ability to go off road just about anywhere

When I was about 16 I was really trying to convince my dad to let me get a Trans Am to work on and make real nice. Well my dad wanted something that would be a bit easier, so when we saw a 79 Ford F150 come up for sale we jumped on it. Well Whatever was wrong with it we could not figure out, and on one trip to get some parts for it, the guy had a 78 Bronco that he wanted to get rid of. We bought the bronco and sold the truck. Ever since then I have been hooked on the Broncos.

At 16, my first truck was an 84 dodge ram D100 4x4. when all was done, it was a true bad ass. untill it got rolled head over 9 times, almost killing myself and my cousin. I was hospitalized for a hair over 6 weeks. After that I only wanted small, low, low risk of flipping trucks. now, going on 11 years later, I've grown and learned that no matter you drive anything can happen. now I'm back to off roading. about 7 months ago my uncle killed his truck and asked me to find a 4x4 for him to use as a daily driver as well as something for the woods and his boat. I got him a 93 jeep cherokee 4x4. he gave me his 84 B2 that didn't run and was in horrable shape. 2 weeks later a friend had a 86 B2 in really good shape aside from the transmission being dead. with only 62k miles on it, I paid $100 for it. now after alot of custom fab work I have a 4inch lift w/ 6inches of additional lift from an air bag setup. I've never been big on ford, but I plan to keep theese until I can't drive anymore. my uncle passed on 2 months after I got the truck, so now that I've restored it I use it as a tribute to him. I don't like ford, but I love this truck.

FORD SUX!!!!
just kidding.

For me it all started with a 78 blazer.I loved that truck but it was a big fat money pit! First my brakes went, then i busted a tie-rod ,but the final straw was when the tranny went super nova on me.I went to go buy a new one at a local shop here in New Orleans when i saw a vision of abstract beauty. An 89 bronco 4x4 with faded and chipped paint. It had a for sale sign on it.I called the owner ,checked it out, kicked the tires, started it up and heard that deep rumble that all bronc owners love(something between a lions roar and godzilla farting) and i was hooked! My truck's seen me through potholes, bad weather, floods and little riceburners who think their living fast and furious. Always remember, your broncs your buddy it wont let you down if you take good care of it . Those bronco trucks are tough as a two dollar steak, and better than any other wanna be 4x4 or rice burner out there.

Since alaskans like this post, i think i'll add my piece. I was 16 and needed a 4x4 rig in the alaskan snow and ice. I didn't like Chevy's, since i saw 'em in the shop i was working at all the time, and my parents owned a 96 dodge ram 3500 diesel(i love driving that thing!) Anyways, my parents got tired of being the taxi and i noticed a bronco for sale in Safe Way's parking lot on 33's. I fell in love with her and saw her everyday i went to my ma's work. I finally drove my parents nuts about it and we dropped 2000 down for her. I'm really glad i did it. Now i'm looking for an early bronco, and sooner or later plan to own one of each generation! Me and my bud plan to own car collections, his will be of jeeps, mine of broncs. There's my two cents.

My family's always been a Ford family. My grandpa retired from there, and that's all we've driven since. My dad bought this Bronco from the dealership when he went looking for a BII. It was a good deal so he got it instead. I always liked riding in it back then. About 5-6 years ago he gave it to me when he bought a new truck. First time I drove it i was hooked.

I love being able to drive a basically stock vehicle that's big enough to see past cars at stop signs, can handle a great deal of abuse, can go offroad like it's nothing, and still has a lower turning radius than most cars.

I tried to drive a Lincon Navigator, I could barely get that thing out of the parking space. I was so used to the Bronco that I actually had to do a 3 point exit from the space. I don't see how people drive those things.

I was a mustang bracket racer in an earlier chapter of my life, and worked in an auto/diesel machine shop building or rebuilding parts my friends and I would break while waiting for chest hairs to grow. Then I sold my 64 1/2 fastback, went to college, and entered law enforcement. I had a 65 F-100 that was too small for the kids to ride in, and I was looking for a new ride. A friend of my wife drove a 72 Bronco to work, and my wife thought that was a cool ride. I started looking for Broncos, and one day, my brother-in-law's father called me and said he was selling his 66 Mustang (that he bought in the fall of 1965), and offered it to me for about 1/2 its market value. My wife thought that was a good deal, but showed me an ad in the paper for a 74 Bronco at an auction. She told me it didn't matter to her which one I got. I told my brother-in-laws-father to list the car in the LA times and ask $11,000. I bought the Bronco, he sold the Mustang for $11,000. The Bronco gives me all the wrenching I want, and the vehicle is practical for the adventures my family enjoys, especially camping. A new 302, NP 435, Dana 20, 3 sets of brakes and 11 years later, I think I made the right decision. My kids fight over who gets to drive it when they go to college. I tell them "No B's, no keys." And you know what? My wife looks GOOOOOOD driving that thing!
