i just got a 1980 bronco it has a 302 in it . its got some 38 buckshot on. it getting 6.7miles per gallon how can i get better gas mileage?? plz help

I thought your tank is 32 gallons??? That's even worse, about 4 mpg. Assuming the engine is properly tuned, no vacuum leaks, and the carb is good, you should get around 8-10. The 38's are definitely straining your powertrain, too. You should be running 4.88 or even 5.12 gears, so a gear swap may be the answer. I would work on the motor first, as a tune-up is a whole lot cheaper!
I now get 11.5 mpg with stock 3.50 gears and 35" tires. I was getting 6-7 mpg with the POS factory carb and intake.

With a fresh tune up, and EVERYTHING else possible in order, including a set of gears that can get you away from a stop light with those 38's at normal RPM.......you mileage should be at about 10MPG.....at best.

Geez! I thought my 11 MPG was bad. I've got an 85 302 FI with manual trans. running 31x10.5x15 tires, stock rear end and way overdue for rebuild. Oh the 80/86s do have a 32gal gas tank stock.

Even a stock, new motor may only get 11-13 mpg average in the Bronco. My advice is to fix whatever problems your present motor has with a possible gear swap, if you plan on keeping it for years to come.

I am lucky to get 8 mpg in mine. The carb has been rejetted to get that from 5mpg. Price of a BBF. Unfortunately these trucks werent made with economy in mind. My 80 with a 351M and 4 spd only got 11 even after having it rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted.

I get 17mpg in my 83, 31" tyres, 250ci straight 6 crossflow, 3.5 diffs. Did they build sixes in them over there? Nearly all v8 f-series pre efi(and probably some with efi) run on LPG over here due to their thirsty nature.

Yes.....they were made with a available 6 cyl. I just aint too sure about the year range.
So.....where are you from.....your telling me that gasoline is that expensive that if you want to drive a real "FULL SIZE" SUV that you have to use LPG?
I get about 12 MPG here in New York City.....but thats only if I aint in a hurry. On the highway I can get as much as 18 MPG.....but it takes a lot of will power not to go too fast.
