At first MacBeth was a great soldier, Until he met three witches. What they told him caused him to make a fatal mistake that ruined his life. In act one scene one the witches told MacBeth that he would be the next king of Cowdar. The witches knew what was going to happen, they only tricked him so they can sit back and watch. They lied to him and tricked him into being evil.
The witches were not the only ones who made MacBeth evil. Even his own wife had alot to do with him becoming evil. She used sex and false acusations to make MacBeth so mad and crazy to become evil. In act two Lady MacBeth says that she wants MacBeth to kill Duncan but, MacBeth doesn't want to get caught and risk his chance of being king. So she strats insulting him by saying "I would kill my own child" and, "Screw your courage". This made MacBeth angry and cause him to kill Duncan and, made the ball start rollling down the hill.
Even his own best friend Banquo, the great companion to MacBeth was part of the reason he was evil. Once Banquo heard the prophecy from the withces that MacBeth would be king he was excited, because this ment that he had a friend in control and he had some say in what happens in Cowador. So Banquo keeps pushing MacBeth to try to become king. But when Duncan names his son Malcom to become the next king, Banquo gets extremely angry and takes it out on MacBeth which causes MacBeth to get angry and kill.
So even though this all started due to the witches giving him a false prophecy his frinds had alot to do with this too. Lad MacBeth used her sex and the insulting of his manhood to make him angry which causes thim to become a psycho. Banquo uses his power as a friend to influence MacBeth to do whatever he wants, and MacBeth doesn't want to be controlled. The witches caused all of this though with there false prophecy just for a few laughs and some good trickery. So it really wasn't MacBeths fault at all.
