i just bought a 1987 F-350 with an earlier 429 or 460 engine. the engine runs great but has a bad vibration. The people I bought it from said it was a 71 model 460 but they used the 87 flywheel and harmonic balancer. Any ideas about the vibration?

Hi Dannie, have you checked the engine mounts?

Dannie. You need to get a flywheel from a 360 or 390 and swap it out, because the 87 460 flywheel is externally balanced and the early 460 up to 1978 is internally balanced and no standard transmissions were available with the 460 until 1983.the 390 flywheel will bolt up to the early 460.I did it and have been running mine for 5 or 6 years with no vibrations.
