Hey guys my dad has gotten too old to steer his old truck. He want's to give it to me. The gears are getting hung up if you shift too quickly. He's convinced it needs to be converted to a floor shifter (from a column shifter). I disagree simply because I learned to drive on the column shifter and want to keep her that way.

His reason for changing is lack of replacement parts. I'm sure anything could be gotten for price. I'm not wealthy but would like to know what I'm up against financially and time consumption trying to replace the column shifter in kind.

I'm very new to the site and welcome any help or advice.
