what up question for everyone- bought this truck with only cab and axles on it. needs a motor and drive tran. i want a auto trans. in it and fuel injection. question is what motor and trans would be best in it. before i am asked truck will be used in the mud and trail riding with driving it to work on occastion. i want to run 40 tires or better so motor must be able to handke it. :)>-

The C-6 is a good strong trans and as far as I know the 302,351C/W/M, 360,390, 400 and possibly up to 460 will bolt up to it. I know that you can turn alot of motors into efi but would it cost more than it would to get a newer 302,351 with it already that way? I guess it also depends on what kinda wheelin' you're doing, what kind of horse power and torque do you need? I can't imagine you'd want to go anything smaller than the 302, those big tires are going to eat into your hp. What axles does it have? Depending on your drive the trail vs drive to work ratio you might look at getting a lower geared rearend......or a granny 4 speed that you can get in low range with.
