hello , i am henry from australia, in reply to your question, what diesel, i have a 1977 f 250 4x4, probably earlier in the us,i recently fitted my truck with a 4bta 4 cly cummin engine and i am very pleased with the outcome, it could have been a costly execise, $11000 for a new engine alone, they arent yankie $ either,

not a tire burner but with 350 lbs torque i have more grunt than a new v8 diesel landcruiser being sold here,

when you look up the specs on this engine dont be suprised if you read that it is a tractor engine, yep. thats right. goverened to 2200 rpm, if you use your 4 spd box you will need a 2 spd overdrive adaptor , i intend getting one when the $ are available. you can get them to rev higher by taking out the counter weights in the sump. it reduces vibrations, over rev it with that in there and it will come out the bottom all by itself,

i tow a 2 ton caravan and average 16.5 litres per 100 klm, or 17.5 mpg. but not yankie gallons, imperial gallona are bigger, with out the van i got 12 litres per 100, or 24 mpg imperial, are top speed is 106 kmph or about 66 mph, i cruise on 60 mph with the van or empty,

that little cummin's is also lighter than the 302 i took out,

probably you will never read this but you never know,

you can also buy s/h engines out of parcel delivery vans over there with torbo 400 bolted on the back,

dont think they have the power this one puts out,

any questions just ask, henryhawk@bigpond.com
