WOW those bolts were F-in on there. Had to grind 2 of them completely off. not exactly the funnest thing trying to squeeze between exhaust driveshaft and leaf springs and grinding lol.

but now i just gotta get about 60 huge guys to help lift the box off hahahaha

Ahhh im almost 2/3 the way from just the frame

ohhh and i have a few questions.

Sandblast or acid dip?
Does anyone have a decent photoshop ability?
and does anyone know a company that makes custom exhaust stacks? looking to get a 8 or 10in single stack.

if you can afford it and the place has a big enough tank to fit that frame. i would acid dip.
i would try the local 18 wheeler truck shop for the stack. if you mean smoke stack.

hopefully i can get lucky and it will fit in a normal acid bath. its a regular cab.

Got the day off of work today so ive been doin a lil wrenching.
got the hood and splash guards off.

Now im just waiting for a few buddies to come over so we can get the box off.
then im not sure where im gunna go from there. pry take off the radiator and core support then get the motor and trans ready to be pulled.

And the box is off.
Im battling with the core support at the momment the damn bolts wont budge. even with pb blaster, liquid wrench. and a 4 and a half foot breaker bar lol. next step heat. and if that doesnt work. grinder. Doomed.











apparently this truck was once rigged for a goose neck lol and the box was once red haha.

thanks. i guess i am pretty speedy lol
not bad for working 3 jobs and full time in college lol
a day u get off of ur morning job you take full advantage of.

and yah the frame is in great shape for the most part. just needs to be blasted. its just some of the leaf spring hangers and shock mounts im worried about.
if i keep movin at this speed i should have the motor out by the end of the month the sand blast it down. then im gunna por 15 pervent rust then coat over it with there chassis saver black. should look good.

i would like to know your thoughts on the POR 15. i am thinking about buying
another F-150 shortbox with a good frame i saw for 850. might be a better
starting platform than what i currently have. i also dont know what to do about
the bed. it is probably beyond saving.

from all the mud guys ive talked to they suggest por 15 products over powdercoating becaust it doesnt chip or scratch and has a stronger bond.
and also go to local junk yards and scrap around before you start ebaying and such. you can find better deals on things that are repareable.

So got some stuff done today. finally got the core support and radiator off. only had to liquid wrench the bolts for 3 days lol.
dropped down the gas talk. and undid all the wiring harnesses. then started taking apart stuff on the motor.

Yes indeedy. and the frame isnt as bad as what i thought it was. its a lil iffy on some of the shock and leaf spring mounts

The weather has been so crappy here lately. havent been able to do much.
but started to get the cab mounts off. didnt go to well. there pretty much just spinning with the rubber mounts. so im gunna have to cut them on Thursday next week. also got the motor pretty much all unhooked. just got to unbolt the mounts on that and the trans and the shifter linkage. hopefully next thursday it should be all down to frame and suspention. then i can start blasting and coating it:)
but since nothing was going right today. decided to just snap pix cuz i was bored:hehe:

ok now that you have the bed off... Can you take a measure ment for me?

i would like to know the distance from the edge of the bed ( tailgate end ) to the first bed mounting bolt hole.

Then from the edge of the bed to the next bolt hole going closer to the front of the bed.

Then from the front of the bed to the front of the wheel well.

last..

back of wheel well to the rear edge of the bed.

trying to see the similarities between the long bed and short beds and where they differ.

yah i can do that tomorrow. its pooring out right now and im on my way to a big mud boggin event. but ill do it tomorrow if the weather isnt still poring out.

I think my buddy is gunna trade me his cummins for my 460 what a deal. im pretty excited if he does. that will save me like 5 grand. he has everything but the radiator and the intercooler. He even has the trans. But its an automatic, but it shouldnt be had to make it a manual if i decide to.
